Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash got engaged over a year ago and are now planning the perfect wedding that will take place in just a few months
Stacey Solomon has admitted she put off choosing her wedding dress because it made her feel “weird”.
The 32-year-old, who is currently engaged to Joe Swash, revealed the process made her “feel funny” because she is “not the Virgin Mary” in an admission to her fans.
Stacey and Joe got engaged over a year ago and are now planning their dream wedding day.
Loose Women star Stacey told fans she spent Monday trying on dresses with the support of her sister.
The bride-to-be brought in her dress options especially from Northern Ireland and took to her Instagram to share some of her favorites with her followers.
“Honestly, I had the best day of my life,” she told her fans online.
“I’ll be honest, I postponed this, it’s my first time trying anything. I don’t know why but it made me feel so funny.
“I think because I’m not the Virgin Mary or anything like that,” she said, possibly in reference to her teenage pregnancy with then-boyfriend Dean Cox.
Stacey has previously spoken of a feeling of shame when she became pregnant with her son Zachary at the age of 17.
After splitting from her partner, she had second eldest son Leighton with ex-fiancé Aaron Barham.
“It made me feel weird. So I decided to try on dresses at home, just me (and my sister dropped by after the school run).” [sic]
“And I’ve never felt more special than I do today. Wedding dress, toes up to this,” she wrote alongside a snap of her doing a “thumbs up” with her big toe.
She then posted a carousel of snaps to her main feed because she “never wants to forget today.”
Alongside snaps of herself beaming in the mirror with her sister Jemma, the TV star said she ‘never wanted to forget that feeling’ after an emotional day.
“Today I choose my wedding dress,” she said.
“And I never want to forget that feeling…I put it off, I think, because the more excited I got about it, the sillier I felt for some reason…
“I started to feel really aware of not being, well, I don’t know.”
But Stacey reassured fans that she wasn’t afraid of marriage, before they misunderstood her words.
“I would NEVER have made life any other way. I’m so grateful for how it happened and I sincerely believe that everything happens for a reason. But I guess sometimes these old-fashioned stories make you feel that way , is not it ? “
The former X Factor sensation shared how she had a wonderful day with her sister.
“I decided to try on my dresses, at home, without me doing a ‘thing’ about it. But it turns out that it was the biggest ‘thing’ ever,” said she wrote with a sobbing emoji.
“My sister dropped the kids off from school and showed up and we both ended up being an emotional mess. I loved every second of today, trying them on, imagining seeing Joe for the first time, feeling the veil on my shoulders, and seeing the glitter sparkle as I moved.

As special and beautiful as the wedding dresses are, Stacey revealed that they weren’t quite right.
“None of these dresses are THE dress, but I took this picture to remind myself of how horny I felt today. And no matter who, how or in what way you do it, it’s the most special moment ever.
Stacey brought in her dress options specially from Northern Ireland and in her stories she wrote a special thank you to “two angels who were the only clothing store that had some of the dresses I had seen and loved “.
Stacey went on to explain, “They go around the shops for the trunk show and they only had them for two days…and during those days they brought the dresses here to Pickle Cottage whatever came from their little shop in Belfast… How amazing they are.”
She sent her love and gushed over Mariam Callister and Helena Gildernew of Belfast bridal wear boutique Verona Bridalni.
While we don’t yet know the exact date the couple will get married, a few weeks ago she said it was three months away, which means the wedding will take place in July.
So, with the weeks ticking by, the TV personality has some work to do.
The mum-of-four was previously due to wed last summer, but her plans were put on hold when she became pregnant.
They have the perfect venue for their nuptials – and the after party will take place in the back garden of their family home Pickle Cottage.
Stacey has been engaged to Joe since he popped the question on Christmas Eve in 2020 after five years of dating.
The couple have two children together – with their son, Rex, born in May 2019, and baby girl, Rose, who arrived in October last year.
Stacey shares eldest son Zachary, 14, with ex-boyfriend Dean Cox and second son Leighton, nine, with ex-fiancé Aaron Barnham.
