A Grantham wedding dress designer is set to launch new collections in London this month and New York in April with her luxury brand TH&TH.
Katie Dickerson-Firth, known as Kitty, along with her two friends Louise Tew and Susan Nong-Couch, founded the company with just a little pot of savings in the middle of their maternity leave, and with a common desire to introduce a new world of bridal attire for “a woman who yearns for a modern tradition”.
The trio, who met at Nottingham Trent University while studying fashion design, realized there was still plenty of room for affordable bridesmaid dresses and high quality, especially after struggling to find exactly what they wanted for their own weddings.
After graduating and several years of working collectively in the fashion industry, the idea for TH&TH (To Have And To Hold) was born, and eventually the trio were able to make their vision a full-time reality. Kitty quit her job as a children’s clothing designer at Next and hasn’t looked back since.
Five years later, TH&TH has grown organically to become one of the UK’s leading bridesmaid brands, offering not only bridesmaid dresses but also lingerie, cards wishes and accessories via its online store.
The trio also now have their dresses stocked in four bridal boutiques across the country and want to support sustainable fashion by including their designs on high-end online rental company Hurr, with rentals also possible through Selfridges in London.
Later this month, the trio will present their collections at the White Gallery Bridal Show in London; their first leap into wholesale, followed by a trip to New York for the One Fine Day Bridal Market trade show.
Kitty says, “TH&TH’s popularity initially grew from Instagram, and we now have over 61,000 followers, but we’ve been fortunate to have grown organically through endorsements and referrals, and it opened up so many exciting directions for our collections and creative ideas. It’s clear there’s an appetite for our designs.
“Later this month, we will introduce our children’s collection, which will include beautiful flower girl dresses, leotards, tutus and beautiful outfits that will coordinate perfectly with our ladies’ clothes and bring a touch of elegance to the younger members of the wedding party. We know this will be welcomed by brides.
The trio are hard at work now on their long-term vision of providing a premium boutique brand that will provide brides-to-be with everything they need to make their dream wedding outfit a reality.
Katie adds: “Over the next 18 months we aim to expand our collections and also introduce our line of accessories, for children and women. We would like to position ourselves as the go-to place for high end, yet affordable bridal wear.
“We are so excited to see where this next phase will take us, and we are grateful to all of the wonderful brides who have been part of our journey so far.”
