FOX VALLEY, Wisconsin (WFRV) – It’s officially winter in Wisconsin and it’s a great time for winter recreational activities. Supply chain issues are plaguing PowerSports1 inventory at Appleton. “At this time of year we would normally be selling snowmobiles,” said Owner Rod Vaneperan.
Vaneperan says the snowmobiles that were sold were on pre-order in April. He does not expect any further shipments until next April. There are other vehicles to buy. “We have ATVs and UTVs. UTVs are definitely our most popular market these days, ”said Vaneperan. He adds that some people use them to clear snow from their driveways. Bubolz Nature Reserve in Appleton has received calls all day long from people wondering if conditions are ready for cross-country skiing. “We’re ready. We have our wet labs set up and ready to go for ski and snowshoe rentals,” said Miranda Gorges, development manager.
Currently, there is not yet enough snow on the ground for these activities to begin. “We need about six inches to do the rentals,” Gorges said.
There are over 700 acres of land and 8 1/2 miles of hiking trails that turn into winter trails. The main building in Bubolz is not open to the public due to COVID-19 protocols. For more information on the services, visit https://bubolzpreserve.org. They are also looking for volunteers to help shovel the snow.
